*** The new operating hours for the Waynesville Recreation Center water park will be Thursday and Friday from 1 to 6:30 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 4:30 pm. 

PHASE 2.5:

Waynesville Recreation Center and Old Armory to Open at 30% Capacity

The Waynesville Recreation Center and the Old Armory will open at 30% capacity on Tuesday, September 8 at 7 am for additional activities. This is in response of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s announcement of Phase 2.5 in relation to the COVID 19 pandemic. The Waynesville Recreation Center (WRC) will be open at 30% capacity from Monday through Friday from 7 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm.  The WRC will be closed on Sundays. This new schedule will begin on Tuesday, September 8. The following areas will be open for the following activities:

  • Gym – pickleball and volleyball only
  • Weight room – half of the equipment available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other half on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
  • Upstairs area – half of the weight machines available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other half on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. A reduced number of ellipticals and treadmills will also be available.
  • Pool and water park - open
  • Racquetball courts - open
  • A class schedule will be available on September 14 and classes will begin on September 21.

Certain programs will not be offered at the WRC due to COVID 19. This includes birthday parties, child care, judo, swim lessons and ball room dancing. Also, the multipurpose rooms will be closed.

The Old Armory will be open at 30% capacity from Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm. This will begin on Tuesday, September 8. The following areas will be open for the following activities:

  • Gym – pickleball and walkers only
  • Pottery room – open

Certain programs will not be offered at the Old Armory due to COVID 19. Also, the cafeteria will be closed.

Masks will be required for entry to each facility and in common areas such as the lobby at check in;  masks are optional during exercising. Age 5 and below will not have to wear a mask. Individuals should observe social distancing when possible.
