Current Vacancies

There are multiple committee member vacancies on the several volunteer advisory boards and commissions including:

  • Zoning Board of Adjustment (one alternate residing in the ETJ): The Board of Adjustment (Waynesville Board of Adjustment) is established as a “quasi-judicial” administrative board that operates on a level between the enforcement officials of the Town of Waynesville and the Courts.  The purpose of the Zoning Board of Adjustment is to hear and decide appeals from and review any order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official charged with enforcement of an ordinance adopted pursuant to the Land Development Standards 

     

  • Recreation Advisory Commission (2 vacancies): The RAC is seeking an applicant that ideally has fundraising or event planning experience. The members of the Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission are appointed to provide guidance and advice on proposed and existing recreation programs. The RAC meets the 3rd Monday of every month at 5:30pm.

     

  • Historic Preservation Commission (1 vacancy): The nine-member Historic Preservation Commission was created to perform the duties of regulating historic landmarks and historic districts. A majority of the members have demonstrated special interest, experience, or education in history, architecture, archaeology or related fields. Meetings are on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Mezzanine at 9 South Main Street.

In 2013, the Town of Waynesville Board of Aldermen approved moving to a standardized annual appointment date for all volunteer boards and commissions to coincide with the fiscal year July 1 to June 30 and limited the number of terms served without a one year break to two terms.   Effective June 12, 2018, the Board of Aldermen amended the term limit to three (3) terms.
