There are multiple committee member vacancies on the several volunteer advisory boards and commissions including:
- Downtown Waynesville Commission
- Planning Board
- NEW! The Waynesville Town Council recently adopted a Municipal Tree Ordinance that established an Advisory Tree Board. We are currently seeking applications for this advisory board. The Advisory Tree Board advises Town Council on municipal tree management issues and acts as an advocate for trees in the community. The Tree Board will be responsible for:
• Annual review of tree management plan and budget
• Develop official street tree species lists for planting purposes
• Periodic review of tree ordinance
• Investigate available grants, loans or contributions to help accomplish tree board's purpose
• Foster public awareness activities (development of education materials and programs relating to trees)
• Plan and execute an annual Arbor Day event to be held on town or school properties
• Assist Town in annual application for Tree City USA recognition

In 2013, the Town of Waynesville Board of Aldermen approved moving to a standardized annual appointment date for all volunteer boards and commissions to coincide with the fiscal year July 1 to June 30 and limited the number of terms served without a one year break to two terms. Effective June 12, 2018, the Board of Aldermen amended the term limit to three (3) terms.
