The Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department public restrooms are now open. The hours will be 10 am to 5 pm. The restrooms are located at Miller Street, Hazelwood Parking Area, Recreation Park and Vance Street Park. The restrooms at Dutch Fisher Park will not be re-opened at this time.
The Waynesville Recreation Center will open the pool and water park only beginning Monday, June 1.
The operating hours for the pool will be Monday through Friday from 7 to 7 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm and closed on Sunday.
The operating hours for the water park will be Monday through Friday from 11 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm.
Social distancing must be maintained at all times. Everyone will need to keep six feet apart.
New regulations that will apply include:When entering the Waynesville Recreation Center each person will have their temperature taken; A questionnaire must be filled out each time before entering. Parents will need to fill this form out for minors.
The only locations in the Waynesville Recreation Center that will be open to the public will be the locker rooms, pool and water park; The sauna, gym, weight room, aerobics room, multipurpose rooms, racquetball courts, cardio area and indoor track will not be open.
Each swimmer is only allowed one spectator - for example if two parents come with one child - only one parent will be allowed; one parent/guardian can come with multiple children;
The aquatic center capacity will be limited to 150 people – this includes swimmers and spectators. Only 28 swimmers will be allowed in the water park pool and 45 swimmers in the pool at one time.
Outside equipment or bags will not be permitted in the pool area. No toys, kickboards, etc.. allowed.
Safety equipment such as goggles, swim caps or flotation devices will be checked by a lifeguard and properly sanitized before entering the pool.
Most importantly – social distancing will be enforced, especially on the pool deck.
The remaining portions of the Waynesville Recreation Center, the Old Armory, all playgrounds, and outdoor basketball courts will remain closed until further notice.
The Waynesville Recreation Center water park and pool will be closed the week of June 15 – 19 due to construction work for the new dehumidification system.
The pool will reopen at 8 am and the water park at 11 am on Saturday, June 20.
Due to the virus all summer camps for the Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department have been canceled.
