Rec Jam is back for its second year and it's Waynesville Parks & Recreation's biggest day on the calendar!

On Saturday, September 26, the Waynesville Recreation Center and Vance Street Recreation Park turn into a full day of play. The morning starts with the Rec Jam 5K and Kids Fun Run Loop along the Richland Creek Greenway, followed by a PDGA-sanctioned disc golf tournament presented by the Kiwanis Club of Waynesville. In between, families can drop into the Family Fun Zone and enjoy free admission to the Recreation Center, no membership required.

There's something here for every age and every pace, whether you're chasing a personal record, throwing your first round, or just coming out to cheer.

Rec Jam is also a fundraiser. Every registration, sponsorship, and dollar raised stays right here in Waynesville, helping fund the projects identified in our new 10-Year Parks & Recreation Master Plan including: playground renovations, greenway expansion, and improvements to the community and neighborhood parks families use all year long.

Rec Jam 5K Run & Walk

A flat, fast tour of the Richland Creek Greenway that starts and finishes at the Recreation Center. Chip timing, a commemorative race shirt, and a wooden finisher medal are included. Walkers and strollers welcome. Starts at 9:00 AM.

Kids Fun Run Loop

One lap of the Recreation Center track for our youngest runners. Every finisher gets a race bib and a wooden finisher medal. Untimed, low-key, and all ages welcome. Starts at 8:45 AM.

2nd Annual Rec Jam Disc Golf Tournament

A PDGA C-Tier charity event presented by the Kiwanis Club of Waynesville, played on the Waynesville Disc Golf Course. All divisions available, with a cash payout for Open, merch for Amateur, and multiple closest-to-pin prizes. Check-in at 8:30 AM, tee off at 10:00 AM.

Family Fun Zone

Inflatables, games, and activities for the kids from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, hosted by the Recreation Center. Free to attend — bring the whole family and make a morning of it.

The Waynesville Recreation Center opens its doors to everyone from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM — no membership or day pass needed. Come take a look around, try the facility out, and see what a membership includes.
