The Town of Waynesville will host a public input meeting as part of its ongoing Stormwater Master Plan Study on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of Town Hall, located at 9 S. Main Street.

In 2023, the Town contracted with WithersRavenel, Inc. to initiate a 32-month stormwater master planning process. The purpose of this effort is to create a comprehensive plan that will serve as a guiding document to address stormwater issues and plan for stormwater infrastructure improvements in Waynesville. The stormwater master plan will focus on key study areas that can be incorporated into the Town’s future capital improvements.

As part of this study, the Town and WithersRavenel engineers hosted a public workshop on February 22, 2024, to identify the areas of concern and gather feedback on stormwater issues within the community. Since then, the consultant team has developed a Conceptual Stormwater Improvements Report, which has maps and descriptions of potential projects to address flooding issues, enhance infrastructure capacity, and improve overall stormwater management.

At the September 24th meeting, residents will have the opportunity to review maps of identified problem areas, provide feedback on priority projects, and share local knowledge about issues that are not yet reflected in the study.

Public participation is a critical part of this process. Input from residents will ensure that the final stormwater master plan reflects community needs and priorities. All residents are encouraged to attend the meeting.
