Police Officer
An applicant must meet the following terms and conditions:
- Minimum employment standards for criminal justice officer as established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission
- Minimum required training for criminal justice officer as mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Submission of fingerprints to by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
- Sufficient physical, mental and emotional condition, as determined by a Medical History and Examination, necessary to perform the essential functions of the above position.
- Maintain a professional and personal standard of conduct that is consistent with the law enforcement profession.
- Any additional requirements specified by this department, which may include
- Polygraph Examination
- Psychological Test (s)
- Physical Examination
- Other (Specify) Drug Screening Test
- Successful completion of the Waynesville Police Department’s Field Training Officer Program.
Telecommunicator positions:
Requires a 30 Correct Words per Minute typing score, the test are given at NC Works.
- Minimum employment standards for criminal justice telecommunicator as established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or the North Carolina Sheriff'’ Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Minimum required training for criminal justice telecommunicator as mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or the North Carolina Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Minimum required training as mandated by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Division of Criminal Information for certification.
- Sufficient physical, mental and emotional condition, as determined by a Medical History and Examination, necessary to perform the essential functions of the above position.
- Maintain a professional and personal standard of conduct that is consistent with the law enforcement and telecommunication/dispatch profession
