Water Treatment Plant
Located at the head of Allens Creek, the Waynesville Water Treatment Plant has a capacity of 8 million gallons a day, and serves 17,000 customers in Haywood County with drinking water. Waynesville's goal is to provide our customers with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water, and protect our water resources.
The plant sits at the base of a 50 acre reservoir, which is filled by the town’s 8,400 acre watershed property and is estimated to hold 1 billion gallons of water. The town has used this and other nearby property for water supply for almost a hundred years. Public access to the watershed property is not allowed, unless as part of a town-sponsored hike or tour.
Water Quality Reports
In compliance with state and federal law, the Town produces an annual report detailing the quality of the water produced by our plant. Waynesville's goal is to provide you with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. Efforts are made continually to improve the water treatment process and protect our water resources
