The Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department will offer a summer camp for volleyball June 12 - 15. It will take place from 9 am to 12 noon at the Waynesville Recreation Center. The camp will be for those entering third grade through 12th grade.
The junior camp is for younger players with beginner to intermediate experience and is designed for campers to receive individual and group instruction in the fundamental skills of volleyball. The teaching skills will involve passing, setting, serving, hitting, blocking and team offense and defense. This is a great opportunity for young players to experience volleyball in a fun and friendly environment.
The senior camp is designed for the intermediate to advanced player is for the volleyball player who is looking to advance their level of play and prepare for the upcoming season. This all skills camp is designed for players who want to focus on improving all the fundamental skills of volleyball. Strategies and team concepts will be taught as well.
The camp director will be Amy Mull. She is the head volleyball coach for the Asheville Trailblazers. She has coached middle and high school volleyball teams in Haywood and Buncombe County for 20 years and has directed numerous volleyball camps. She has received coaches training at the University of Alabama. There will also be players from Montreat College, Bryan College, and other volleyball club coaches.
