Public Services

The Public Services Department is committed to providing quality, cost effective, customer-oriented municipal services that enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Waynesville. In order to provide a wide range of services efficiently and effectively, the Public Services Department is organized into the following service areas:

Administration

David Foster, Director of Public Services, provides operational, regulatory, budgetary management and long-range strategic planning for the department.

Electric

The Town owns and operates two electric substations and provides electric service to residents and businesses within our service area. Duke Energy Progress provides electric service to the rest of the Town residents and businesses.

Sanitation Services:

ResidentialCurbside garbage collection, recycling, residential junk item and yard waste collection services. Seasonal vacuum leaf collection is also provided.    2017 Holiday Schedule

Commercial - Curbside and dumpster garbage collection available.

 

Street and Sidewalk Maintenance

Includes the repair and construction of town-maintained roads and sidewalks, as well as snow removal.

Cemetery

The Town owns and operates Greenhill Cemetery, located on Golden Drive.

Water & Sewer Maintenance

Maintains and repairs the water distribution and sewer collection systems.

Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Town of Waynesville treats wastewater to a level that meets or exceeds regulatory requirements as cost-effectively as possible.

Water Treatment Plant

The Town produces drinking water from our own reservoir.

Watershed

The property that provides the water to fill the Town’s reservoir, it is protected by conservation easements to prevent future development on this property.

Outside of normal business hours, and Town holidays, please call the Waynesville Police Department at (828) 456-5363 to report an issue.

Non-emergency issues or suggestions can be reported 24/7 through Action Line.  A tracking number will be assigned which will allow you to track the status of your request online.

 

Utilities/Payments

For payment inquiries, please call the Finance Department at (828) 456-3515 or go by the Finance Office located at 280 Georgia Avenue.  Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Applications for utility service are available online and at the Finance Department office at 280 Georgia Ave.
