Neither snow nor the cold temperatures stopped the Blind Hog Day Light Savings Throw Down Disc Golf Tournament which was held on Sunday, March 12. It took place at the Waynesville Recreation Center with 66 disc golfers from the Western North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, the Charlotte area, and Waynesville.
These disc golfers, both pro and amateur, played two rounds of 18 holes. The morning round was extremely challenging with a beautiful blanket of snow on the ground. The snow cleared for the second round and even more challenges came with the wind picking up which made shot selections more difficult. Teams consisted of men and women of different age groups as well as parents and children.
This tournament was a huge success thanks to the ongoing partnership with Haywood Waterways and the Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department. The organizations have partnered throughout the year with hike interpretations, summer camp education, Richland Creek cleanups, and so much more.
